Why use a Bedhead Services Trunking?

Because Hospitals are becoming expensive to build and maintain.

How will Bedhead Services Trunking help?

By reducing the amount of time spent installing the services during construction or refurbishment. Bedhead Services Trunking does not require the walls to be chased out for electrical conduits or Medical Gas Pipe lines. They are easily accessible for maintenance in the future if installed within the Bedhead Services Trunking. Additions and expansion of the systems can be easily carried out without structural alterations.
Why choose MIM Meditech™ '800'

Because the Meditech™ system has been developed out of practical experience gained from 25 years of hospital systems design. MIM is unique in that its experience has been gained as one of the leading UK companies in both Medical Gas Pipeline and electrical systems. It is this experience and the frustration of working with poorly designed Bedhead services trunking that has led us to design and manufacture our own system.

In what way is Meditech™ '800' unique?

The MIM Meditech™ 800 has front panels that hinge down when opened so that they are not damaged or create problems for the wiring connected to them. Other bedhead services trunking either requires the front panels to be removed which subjects them to mechanical damage or they are left dangling on the ends of the wiring which creates unacceptable strain on the connections.
Front panels do not have unsightly fixing screws, all component parts are mounted onto the rear of the panel by electrically welded studs.

Meditech™ 800 has separate internal ducts for electrical low voltage, extra low voltage and Medical Gas Pipelines.
Installation is easy using the wall hanging brackets provided.
The system is manufactured out of extruded aluminium and powder coated for extra protection ~ providing an attractive finish to match the interior decor.

How difficult is the system to install?

The Meditech™ 800 system has been designed for easy installation, wall fixing brackets are provided which clip into a channel on the back surface of the Trunking. We can supply the Bedhead Services trunking pre-wired and fitted out with all the required accessories, the Medical Gas Pipelime and terminal outlet can be fitted and tested.
This method of factory assembly saves time on installation enabling the decoration of the rooms to be completed prior to installing the Bedhead Services Trunking.
A complete range of angles and bends are available for easy installation, around the most difficult wall surfaces.
What about room lighting?

A complete complimentary range of lighting designed specifically for the 800 system are available, 18 watt low energy compact patient reading lights, combined compact low energy general room and patient reading lights, standard Halo phosphor or Tri phosphor fluorescent lighting, flip-over or multi-arm examination lights and night orientation lighting.

What about faults and maintenance?

The hinged front plate allows access to all the internal component parts without having to disturb the other services. The front panels are locked into place by an unique locking system and can be accessed without having to remove any fixing screws.
Meditech™ 800 has been specifically designed to make the installation of hospital services easy and economical.
Meditech™ 800 can be installed in stages due to its unique 'building block' design, a hospital can initially install the minimum of services and add additional services without any structural modifications.

Meditech™ 800 manufacturing

The Meditech™ 800 bedhead Services Trunking is manufactured in standard lengths up to 4.5m long from extruded aluminium in two parts, i) the back spine and ii) the hinge lid. For projects requiring a longer back spine than 4.5m (the longest practical length that can be installed and shipped in one piece), each additional section is joined together by 'roll' pins for exact location and a clamp that holds the pieces together and provides earth continuity bonding.
In pre-wired units the wiring is terminated in connectors for each individual length for fast assembly on Site.

Meditech™ 800 component parts

MIM Meditech have specialised in manufacturing "Custom Made" Bedhead Services Trunking that incorporate the varied international engineering standards.
Individual countries have components that are unique e.g. mains socket outlets, which require fitting to the hinged front plates.

Each front plate is machined in our factory to the exact dimensions required for each component. After machining the back spine and front plates they are cleaned, degreased, painted with an etch primer and Epoxy Powder coated to provide a hard wearing and durable painted finish. The standard colour is white and each spine has an indent at the upper and lower edges for the addition of a colour co-ordinated stripe to be added to blend with the interior design. Non-standard colour finishes are available from the British Standards and RAL paint colour ranges at additional cost.

Project planning

No two projects are the same and each project has different component parts.
MIM Technical Services plan each project individually and provide manufacturing drawings showing the layout of each length of Meditech™ 800 Bedhead Services Trunking.
These drawings are sent to the project design for approval before manufacturing commences.

Special sections

Because each project is different the Meditech™ 800 has a range of bends and angles that are individually engineered to meet each projects individual requirements.

90° vertical angle right or left hand
"Outside" corner horizontal 90° angle
End profile of Meditech 800 back spine
"T" piece
"Inside" corner horizontal 90° angle

The system is composed of various options which can be ordered within our factory, or for additions to the system at a later stage. The flexibility of meditech™ 800 ensures that the hospital can grow without having to purchase new bedhead trunking, the existing meditech™ 800 can be altered or added to at any time, now, or in the future.

Factory preinstalled services

To save time in installation the Meditech™ 800 Bedhead Trunking can be factory pre-wired, pre-piped and fully tested before arriving on site. This enables the contractor to complete the first fix installations, decorate the room and because of the unique and easy installation of Meditech™ 800 the bedhead trunking can be installed after all other traders have completed their work.
